Vintage Digital Photography at Weddings

This year I’ve been deep diving into Vintage digital photography. In simple terms it’s an artistic style that combines the charm and faded aesthetics of vintage film photography with the convenience and versatility of modern digital technology. Infusing images with a nostalgic and timeless appeal, helping to make photos the memories that they are.

I’ve been using out an old 2007 digital camera I got from a pawn shop for some weddings I attending this year and I ‘ve found the results it give have that nostalgic and retro-inspired feeling. Something about the colour representation and digital grain brings that classic timeless feeling to the day. Emotions come through a bit clearer and it’s nice to focus more on the moments then the almost obsessive nature of sharpness in modern photography.

Really happy with these and will be shooting a few more in this style. Feedback has also been incredibly good from the married couples.

To summarise digital photography is wonderful but it’s focus on capturing every detail has been a drain on me creatively lately, it’s perfection pulls away from the moments and in some cases the authenticity of the day. The vintage feel of these photos I find are able to allow me to tap into the power of visual storytelling, immersing viewers in a captivating narrative that resonates with their nostalgic sensibilities. I’ve found that through carefully crafted compositions, lighting techniques, and post-processing methods, I can create vintage digital photographs that are able to transport you to a different time, igniting a sense of sentimentality and familiarity which goes so nicely on a wedding day.
